Extremadura is famous in Spain for its grazing lands and its medieval towns full of history from the time of the Conquest of America. This region South West of Madrid and next to Portugal is mostly a low and flat area with several important rivers runing through it so that is has mild winters and makes a perfect grazing land for Cattle and Sheep herds through the winter. The area is also famous for the historic cities where many of the Conquistadors came from. When men like Pizarro came back from the conquest they brought much wealth and cities such as Trujillo and Caceres are full of Palaces and churches thanks to the gold they brought back.

In the morning we start cycling going North towards the Mountains of Gredos. We will reach the picturesque town of Candeleda and then we follow the foot of the mountains west towards the Mountain village of Jarandilla de la Vera.
In the morning we start cycling going West towards Portugal following the foot of the mountain range of Gredos. The way has beautifull scenary with the mountains on our right and the planes on our left and there are many fertile terraces full of fruit trees such as cherry trees and olive trees.
We will have a few challenging climbs when going into the mountains to make the ride more challenging and interesting.
On arrival to the town of Plasencia we go to our 4* hotel the Parador de Plasencia where we will have dinner.
Today we will cycle out of Plasencia and up the Valley of Jerte famous for its Cherry trees. We will then climb a mountain pass to came back into Plasencia from the North.
Today we will cycle out of Plasencia and cross the National Park of Monfrague with its impressive views of the rocky formations by the river Tajo where hundreds of vultures nest. The national park is famous for its bird live but you will probably came across dear or wild boar as well.
Our hotel is the Parador at the medieval town of Trujillo famous for its history since it was the home town of some of the most famous conquistadors in the invasion of the American continent in the 16th century. The wealth that was brought back from America was used to build grand palaces, churches and castles in towns like Trujillo and Caceres.

Today´s cycle takes us through the planes of Extremadura towards the mountains of Guadalupe. We will cycle along very quiet roads and cross villages like Madroñera and Aldeacentenera before heading back to Trujillo.
Today is the final cycle to the medieval city of Trujillo. A world heritage city since 1986 it is a great way to finish this cycle.
The cycling will be along beautiful countryside with big gracing land properties where Cattle and Sheep herds roam around.
Dinner will be at the hotel in Cáceres.
Transfer to Madrid Airport after breakfast.
